Obituary

Rose Etta Jones was born November 1, 1943, second youngest daughter of twelve to parents William R. Jones and Rosa Nance in Knoxville, Tennessee. Around 1966 she moved to California with her husband Marvin Cantrell and two young sons Gregory and Curtis. In those days she did what she could to help make ends meet. She worked at a hotel and then landed a job at National Semiconductors. As the years went by she had two more children, a daughter Yvonne and her baby Maurice. She did her best to provide her kids with the best childhood she could, she was that mom who rode bikes, roller skated and even played on the playground. When things ended with her first husband she was the ultimate single mom, we didn't have much but as kids she made sure we didn't know it. She would volunteer at the school, work and make sure we always had a hot breakfast and a warm dinner. She sewed outfits for us when needed and also made all of our Halloween costumes. In 1978 she met her late husband Eddie W.D. Brown, which turned out to be the love of her life. Their love lasted for 34 years and he fully accepted all four of her children. She eventually got a job at IBM where she worked for about ten years. With the support of her husband she returned back to school to get her degree in Early Childhood Education. While studying at San Jose City College she discovered she had a gift and love for artistry. She enjoyed going to Monterey Bay, San Francisco and Half Moon Bay to capture the scenery for her paintings. She was so excited to become a grandmother and loved all her grandchildren. She loved family gathering, outings and attending church with best sister Gertude. She was preceded in death by her Husband Eddie W. D. Brown, Sister Gertrude Mullins, oldest son Gregory Allen Hayworth, Brothers Jimmy Jones, Hubert, and Andrew. Survivors: She leaves behind Sisters Bettie and Lulu Mae, Brothers William and Otis. Children: Curtis Cantrell, Yvonne Cantrell and youngest son Maurice Cantrell. Favorite Niece Angela Mullins; Grandchildren: Cache, Kenneth, Canisha, Jazzy, Cory, Alexis, Christain and Devonte, and a whole host of nieces, great nieces, great grandchildren, Nephews, great nephews and several friends.
