IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rosemary
Nixon
November 17, 1943 – August 2, 2007
Rosemary James was born November 17, 1943 in Nebo, Oklahoma to George Newton James and Mary Belle Elkins. The family moved to Semi-Tropic when she was just 3 years old. Rosemary attended Semi-Tropic Elementary School and graduated from Wasco Union High School with the Class of 1961. She married Eddie Nixon June 7, 1961. Together they owned and operated Central Valley Auto Services which they purchased in 1980. She worked until March of this year when she had to quit because of her failing health. She had a heart for many organizations in the community and donated to many groups including the memorial at Wasco High School for fallen students. More than anything, Rosemary loved the mountains, camping and the beauty and majesty of nature. She and Eddie had purchased a cabin in Sugar Loaf and she became known as "Cabin Grandma" to all the grandchildren. Rosemary is survived by her husband of 46 years, Eddie Nixon, Sr. of Bakersfield; mother-in-law, Josephine Nixon of Wasco; sons, Eddie, Jr. and wife Lori of Bakersfield, Mikeal and wife Talieda of Bakersfield, Sean and wife Melanie of Wasco and Bobby of Taft; daughters, Deborah Simpson and husband Jimmy and Janie Nixon, all of Taft; brothers, Jessie James of Inyo Kern and George James of Lake Isabella; sisters, Mary Short of Ventura and Roy Struempf of Riverside; 22 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; and many other loving family members. She was preceded in death by her son Greg who passed away in 1984, brother, Frank James and sister, Joanne Mason. A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 8th at 10am at Wasco Memorial Park for Rosemary Nixon, age 63, who passed away August 2, 2007 in the presence of her family. Pastor Jimmie Nixon of the Shafter Missionary Baptist Church will officiate and interment will follow. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 7, from 2pm-8pm at Peters Funeral Home.
