Rosalie Walston, age 83, died peacefully at her daughter's home with family by her side on January 16, 2016. A memorial church service will be held on Friday January 29th at St. John's Valley of Faith in Arvin, Ca. at 11am with a remembrance lunch to follow. Rosalie was born on January 25, 1932 in Barry County, Missouri, to Robert and Nellie Lasiter. Rosalie's stay in Missouri was brief as the family moved shortly after to California. She graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1950 and then married her sweetheart, Joe Walston, on February 23, 1951. She was happily married and dedicated her time to caring for her family and raising their two daughters. After her husband's death in 1993, Rosalie felt compelled to give back to her community and spent over 17 years volunteering at Mercy Hospital in Bakersfield, California, where she put in over 23,000 hours as a volunteer auxilian. One of Rosalie's true passions in life was dedicating her life to God, being an active member of the Arvin Congregational Church, and her Women's Fellowship group. She continued to remain active with the church when it transitioned to St. John's Valley of Faith and spoke of her fellow church members as her second family. Rosalie is survived by her brothers; Robert and Charles Lasiter, sister; Thelma Carpenter, daughters; Robin Hall and Gail Walston; 5 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way.
