Rosa was born to Manuel and Hortencia Garza in Edinburg, Texas. At the age of five she and her family moved to Kern County, and finally settled in Shafter. Rosa married Gerardo Perez on April 4, 1994 in Wasco. Rosa dedicated her time to her taking care of those around her. She was a great cook, and especially enjoyed baking with her grandchildren, whom she loved to spoil. Rosa enjoyed watching the Food Network, but also liked to take road trips; her favorite get aways were her trips to the central coast and the mountains. Rosa had a huge heart and will be greatly missed by all her family. Rosa is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jade Gomez. She is survived by her parents, Manuel and Hortencia Garza; husband, Gerardo Perez; sons, Jose Soto and wife Nickteloy, and Ramon Garza Barragan; her daughters, Veronica and husband Fidencio Gomez, Christina and husband Israel Oseguera, Sarah Garza Barragan, and Ilene Garza Barragan; brothers, Manuel, Juan, Roy, Francisco and Gustavo Garza; sisters, Hortencia Martinez, Estella Cantu, Elizabeth Loza-Best, and Irma Garza Marquez; and 19 grandchildren. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at St. Therese's Catholic Church beginning at 10:00am, Father Pedro Umana will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, January 10, 2011 from 2-8pm at Peters Funeral Home-Shafter with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:00pm.
