IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rosa Armendina
Carrillo
March 17, 1951 – December 29, 2010
Rosa Armandina Carrillo was born in Piedras Negras, Cahuilla, Mexico on March 17, 1951 to Maria Dolores (Lira) and Filiberto Valdez, one of six sisters. She was raised in Texas and came to California at the age of 18, she met Gilberto Carrillo and fell in love with him; they married in Kern County on June 24, 1972. She worked as a seasonal farm laborer, and was employed at Killians Market for many years. Hobbies included crocheting; many doilies, hats, scarves and tables cloths were made with much detail and given out with much love. Her tidy home confirmed she was very organized and disciplined in all she did. She was very supportive of her children's school activities when they were younger and she continued to be their anchor as adults and was proud of her family. Her family recalls how she looked forward to camping trips; they camped at various lakes throughout California. Rosa was very active until this last summer, dialysis took her energy, but her spirits were always high. Rosa Armandina Carrillo was preceded in death by both of her parents and her sister Yolanda Maciel (2001) and survived by her loving husband of 38 years Gilberto; sons Gilberto Carrillo III and Debra Vallejo, Cesar and Amy Carrillo; daughter Maritza Carrillo and Brian Castro; sisters Irma Alvarez, Gloria Valdez, Norma Monge and Sylvia Valdez; her faithful 4 legged companions Chiva and Chucho, many friends, acquaintances and her large extended family. Father Jorge De La Torre will officiate a 10:00 am Mass of the Resurrection Wednesday, January 5, 2011 for Rosa Armandina Carrillo, age 59, of Arvin, at St. Thomas Catholic Church with interment immediately following at South Kern Cemetery District. Visitation will be from 5 to 8pm Tuesday, January 4, 2010 at Arvin Funeral Home.
