Obituary

Ronald "Larry" Lopez was born in Bakersfield Ca, to Robert and Ida Lopez. Ronald attended St. Joseph's elementary school and Garces Memorial junior high and high school. Ronald then entered the U.S. Marines Corp. and served during the Korean War. Upon returning home he married Helen Behill on August 21, 1954 in Bakersfield. Over the years Ronald was a part of different industries; he worked for Mission Linen, Sundance Cattle, Sullivan's Petroleum and Schwebel Petroleum Companies. Favorite pastimes included watching sports of all kinds, especially baseball. He also loved bowling, and "Debating" various topics with family members. Larry was a devout man and spent time praying for his family everyday. He had many friends, but many may have known him by different names as he went by Sunny, in his younger days, Ron, by many he worked with, and most commonly, Larry. Ronald was a very outgoing and outspoken man who was patriotic and proud of his service to his country, but even more, Ronald was proud of the family he raised. Ronald is survived by his loving wife, Helen; sons, Lawrence and wife Barbara, Mark and wife Laura, Mathew and wife Juanita, and Luke Lopez; daughters, Rosemarie and husband Martin Mendoza, Virginia Marie Lopez, Ida Marie Walling, and Antoinette Sosa-Salazar and husband Jimmy; brothers, Fred Lopez and Phillip Delcid; sisters, Rose Calvillo, Ruby Calvillo, Connie Ibarra and Kathleen Chavez; 30 grandchildren, 17 Great-grandchildren and 3 more on the way. Ronald is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ida; his uncle Bart and Katie Delcid, who raised him; a baby daughter, Agnes Mary Lopez; and two sisters Helen Anaya Sanchez and Yvonne Hernandez. Visitations for Ronald will take place on Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary from 2-6pm. Recitation of the Holy Rosary held at 7pm at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on December 27, 2007 followed by interment at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
