Obituary

Rolando Salinas was born May 17, 1970 in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Genovevo and Alicia (Rodriquez) Salinas. The family moved to Shafter when Rolando was a young boy and he attended Shafter elementary schools and Shafter High School. He worked in farm labor as a young man then owned Sal's Pizza in Wasco for 4 years. After that, he worked at Supreme Bean and Macys. He was currently a Foreman at Four Star Cold Storage in Delano. Rolando was a very happy person, a comedian who loved to make people laugh. Rolando was always dressed to a T any where he went. He loved to dance and go to the gym. He was a hard worker and loved to go to work each day, he loved his job. Rolando was a loving son and father, good brother and a great uncle. He is survived by his mother, Alicia Salinas; son, Matthew Salinas; grandmother, Jovita Ruiz; brother, Ruben Nunez; sisters, Rosa Salinas, Tomasa Villa and Jovita Martinez; brothers, Rolando, Genovevo and Juan Salinas; sisters, Bertha Gonzalez, Concepcion Salinas, Avilena Gonzalez, Ninfa Marichalar, Tomasa Salinas and Orfelinda Arredondo; and many loving nieces, nephews and other family members. Holy Rosary will be recited Sunday, February 15, at 5 pm at Peters Funeral Home for Rolando Salinas, age 38, of Shafter who passed away February 12, in Bakersfield after a short battle with cancer. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 16, at 10am at St. Therese's Church. Interment will follow at Shafter Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from 4pm to 8pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 2pm to 8pm.
