Roger was born November 8, 1938 in McClellen Arkansas to Larrie (Mitchell) and Roger Letton Ridgeway. Roger passed away June 1, 2009. Roger came to California at the age of 12 and attended the local Wasco schools. Roger enlisted with the United States Navy in 1955 and served two years. He married the love of his life, Sandra (Ridgeway) in April of 1957. He was a heavy equipment operator with various construction companies and retired in 1991. He and Sandra moved to Oklahoma in 1993 to become cattle farmers. He loved fishing for catfish in the Arkansas River. They moved back to Kern County in 2001, where he dedicated his life to being the best grandfather he could be. He wore a smile on his face each time he was near them. He was especially fond of his 14-month-old great grandson, Landon. Roger enjoyed watching and catching up on all sports. His favorite sport was NASCAR, which you could find him watching anytime it was on TV. Roger was preceded in death by both his parents, Larrie and Roger Colbert; brother, L.B. Colbert; sister, Doris Kelley and father-in-law Bill Ridgeway. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Colbert; mother-in-law Mary Ruth Ridgeway; cousin and best friend Cecil; sons, Michael and wife Debbie; Dennis and wife Susan; daughter Cynthia; brother Pete and wife Jerry; grandchildren, Jeffrey Colbert, Jason Colbert and wife Jamie; Daniel Colbert and fiancee Randi Lozano; Justin Colbert and wife Kailee; Eric Colbert and wife Venicia, Kaitlyn Colbert, Ted and Bill Starr; great-grandson, Landon Colbert and great-grandchildren, Ethan, Madeline, Kennedy and Gavin Starr. Chapel services will be held for Roger Lewis Colbert, age 70, Friday, June 5, 2009 at 10 am at Peters Funeral Home Chapel in Wasco, Ca. Interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park.
