Roberto "Bobby" Rodriguez was born August 7, 1954 in Pharr, Texas one of 11 children born to Julia (Saldivar) and Francisco Rodriguez. The family moved to Shafter in 1958 and Bobby attended Shafter elementary school and Shafter High School with the Class of 1972. Bobby was a mechanic and worked on cars and farm equipment. He also worked in the oil fields and was a caretaker on the Merle Swan Ranch before his health forced him to retire. Whenever Bobby traveled he had to buy his favorite souvenir, a Harley Davidson T-shirt. Bobby was a home body, but every morning he loved going out to feed the horses and care for them. Bobby was a loving son, brother, father and grandfather and will be missed by his family. Surviving family include his parents, Francisco and Julia Rodriguez; children, Robert Rodriguez, Steve Rodriguez, Adam Rodriguez, Angie Richardson, Glinda Rodriguez and Stacy Rodriguez; brothers, Frank Rodriguez, Richard Rodriguez, Oscar Rodriguez, Carlos Rodriguez and Raul Rodriguez; sisters, Margie Hernandez, Esperanza Alaniz, Mary Castillo, Carmen Felix and Gloria Gonzalez; and 6 grandchildren, Paige, Ryleigh, Cassandra, Breanna, Brian and Brandon. Holy Rosary will be recited Thursday, November 8, at 6pm at Peters Funeral Home for Roberto "Bobby" Rodriguez, age 58, of Shafter who passed away November 6, 2012 in Bakersfield. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 9, at 11am at St. Therese's Church. Fr. Pedro Umana will officiate the service and interment will follow at Shafter Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday, November 8 from 4pm to 8pm at Peters Funeral Home.
