Obituary

Roberto Gonzalez Perez was born April 5, 1927 in Canutillo, Texas to Nieves and Concepcion (Gonzalez) Perez. He moved to Arizona and met his future bride Elvira Romero. They were married January 3, 1953 and moved to Wasco in 1959 when Roberto began his 30 year career with RA Jacobson Farms. Roberto loved fishing, going to the local lakes, Buena Vista, Success Lake and the canals, but deep sea fishing was his passion. He was also an excellent gardener and grew the best chili and tomatoes, the tallest sunflowers and huge pumpkins. Roberto seemed to be blessed with a green thumb and could heal and make fruitful plants that others would have given up on. Roberto is survived by his sons; Robert Perez and wife Maria of Wasco, Rodolfo Perez of Bakersfield; daughters, Margie Perez of Wasco and Zana Chaney and husband Lon of Delano; brothers, Conrad Perez of Sacramento and Rodrigo Perez of Texas; sister, Ana Maria Flores of Texas; 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Elvira Romero Perez, who passed away on October 8, 2000; 2 sons, Rueben and Francisco; his parents and 6 siblings. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Monday, January 28 at 6pm at Peters Funeral Home for Roberto Gonzalez Perez, Sr. of Wasco who passed away January 23, 2008 in Delano. Mass of the Christian Burial will be said Tuesday, January 29 at 10am at St. John's Church. Interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park.
