Roberto Benavides was born July 31, 1912 in San Vicente, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Inocencio and Rafaela (Rendon) Benavides. Roberto married Teresa Gonzalez in 1931 in Mexico and they lived in Texas before moving to Arvin in 1951. Roberto worked in agriculture, mostly for El Rancho Farms. For the last 14 years Roberto was living with family in Palmdale. Roberto was a nice and loving person, always friendly with many friends and family. He loved to get up at 5am to have his coffee and then on to his favorite pastime which was walking. Roberto was preceded in death by his wife, Teresa, who passed away in 1997; his parents and was the last of 7 siblings. He is survived by his children, Oziel & wife Paula Benavides, Araceli & husband Antonio Salinas. Silvia & husband Ken Butterick, Beto and wife Adelaida Benavides, Arminda & husband Cesareo Cantu Sandoval, Romeo and wife Liz Benavides and Jildardo & wife Teresa; and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. Holy Rosary will be recited Saturday, September 20 at 1pm at Arvin Funeral Home and interment will be in Ceralvo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.
