Roberta L. Schellenberg went to be with Jesus Christ on August 1, 2010 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 81. She was born in Bakersfield on November 28, 1928 to parents Edward Gustus and Lydia Marie Kruger. She lived in Shafter and the Bakersfield area her entire life. She was married for 49 years to Lawrence Schellenberg, Principal at Richland Intermediate School in Shafter who preceded her in death in 2001. Roberta attended Standard Elementary School, Bakersfield High, Pacific Bible Institute, Fresno State College and received her Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Bakersfield in 1976. She taught English as a substitute teacher at Richland Junior High and Shafter High while being a full time mother of four loving children. She was a sweet, beautiful and wonderful Mom and went to be with Jesus and her husband Larry in Heaven by receiving her ultimate reward from our Heavenly Father. The family has many great memories of her, not only as their very supportive and loving mother, but also her exemplary walk with Jesus. Roberta is remembered as a prayer warrior, and was part of the National Prayer Team. Her strong faith, heartfelt caring for others and witnessing Jesus' work in her life carried her through her journey on earth. Roberta is survived by her sister Nadene and husband Marvin Steinert, son Robert and wife Cindy Schellenberg, daughter Lauretta and husband Gary Sheetz, daughter Elaine and husband Kevin Bergman, daughter Rachel and husband Doug Harrison, grandchildren Travis, Kyle, Kenny, Desiree, Valaree, Krista and many cousins and countless friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held on August 6, 2010 at 11:00 am at Heritage Bible Church of Bakersfield located at 2323 Mt. Vernon Avenue.
