Robert Sanford Wilson was born in Birdeye, Arkansas, to John and Idella Wilson, on November 9, 1926. He married Faye Bernice Spencer on August 29, 1946, in Cherry Valley, Arkansas, and the couple came to California in 1948. Robert worked as a Police Officer with the Shafter P.D. from 1959-1964, and then he worked in the security department of the Santa Fe Rail Road until his retirement in 1992. He also stayed busy working as an auto mechanic with his son during those years. Prior to his marriage Robert served his country in the U. S. Navy during WWII. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, John and Idella; his wife, Faye (1994); brother, Alfred; sisters, Aline Justice, Gladys Sullivan, Gertis Morrow, Etta Mae and Claire Philips. He is survived by his brother, Allen Wilson of Woodland, Ca; sons, George "Mickey" and wife, Linda, Doyle "Skip" and wife, Joyce all of Santa Maria, Thomas and wife, Jennye of Squaw Valley, Vincent and wife, Nada of Sanger; daughter, Deborah Petrochilos of Fresno; grandchildren, Michael and Jeremy Wilson, Shane Wilson, Stella and Mark Petrochilos, and Darrel and Shelly Sisney; great grandchildren, Janelle, Jackie and Torrie Wilson. A graveside funeral service under the direction of Peters Funeral Home will be held at Shafter Memorial Park on Thursday, May 10, 2007, at 11am, for Robert Sanford Wilson, age 80, of Santa Maria, who passed away May 6, 2007, in Santa Maria. Pastor Gayland Allen of the North Height Southern Baptist Church of Bakersfield will officiate at the service. A visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 9, 2007, from 2 to 8pm, and Thursday, May 10, 2007 for 8:30 to 10:30am.
