Robert Lowell Taylor was born June 21, 1924 in Wild Cherry, Arkansas to Samuel and Bernice (Dixon) Taylor. He grew up in Salem, Arkansas where he attended elementary schools and graduated from Salem High School. Robert entered the Army in 1943, fighting in Germany during World War II attaining the rank of Private 1st Class and being honorably discharged in 1946. After his military service Robert joined his family who had already moved to Wasco. He married Nora Mae Sanders and she passed away in 1969. He later married Treva Cochran-Sexton and she also preceded him in death in 2005. Robert is best remembered as being the milkman. He worked for Foremost and Carnation delivering to grocery stores and also made home deliveries. Robert was a jack-of-all-trades and for a time he owned a TV repair shop, the Chevron Station on Hwy 46 and worked as a Kirby Vacuum Cleaner salesman. In his younger years he enjoyed bowling, but growing vegetable in his garden each year was his passion. He was a member of the Wasco Church of Christ, Wasco VFW Post 6742, where he served as Post Commander and in his retirement was active with the Sheriff's Activities League. Robert is survived by his sons, Robert Stephen Taylor and wife, Marlene of Clovis, CA; step-sons, Kenny Oliver and wife, Sandy of Bakersfield, Gene Oliver of Marysville, CA; daughters, Connie Gayle Allen and husband, Jerry of Oklahoma, Pam Carender and husband, Denton of Wasco; step-daughter, Celeste Ezell and husband, Roger of Arkansas; sister, Jessie Mosley of Wasco; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Coy Taylor; grandchildren, Michael Lynn Allen and Daniel Lowell Allen; and great-grandchild, Jonathon Michael Allen. A funeral service will be held Friday, May 9, 2008 at 10 am at Peters Funeral Home in Wasco for Robert Lowell Taylor, 83, of Wasco, who passed away May 6, 2008 at home. The service will be officiated by Pastor Weldon Langfield and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled from 2 – 8 pm at Peters Funeral Home in Wasco on Thursday, May 8, 2008.
