Robert Sotello, 94, went to be with God on December 19, 2008. Robert was born March 26,1914 in Bakersfield, CA. He married his first wife, Clara Flores-Sotello, in 1936 and had one child, Joann. Clara preceded him in death in 1943. He met and married Helen Londigan in 1952. They had two children, one son Robert L. Sotello and a daughter Lorrie L. Sotello. Helen also preceded Robert in death in 1987. Robert loved his family as much as he loved God. As a young man, he served The Lord as an altar boy at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. He worked for San Joaquin Compress, bailing cotton, and retired after 25 yrs. Robert enjoyed taking his family on long Sunday drives as a young man. Later in life, he took enjoyment in going to the casino with daughter Lorrie and other friends, and spending time with his family. He is survived by daughter Joann Padilla from Tustin CA., son Robert L. and wife Marjorie Sotello from Bakersfield and daughter Lorrie L. Sotello from Bakersfield. He has 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. He also had three very special people in his life that loved him very much, Kay Morse, Thurman Morse and Lois Robles. The family would like to thank the staff of Westchester Gardens and Optimal Hospice for their wonderful and loving care they provided. Flowers may be sent to Hopson-Anspach Mortuary. The viewing will be held on Dec. 30,08 from 2:00p to 7:00p at Hopson-Anspach Mortuary, at 620 Oregon St., Bakersfield, CA. Rosary services will be held after the viewing at 7:00p at Hopson-Anspach Mortuary. Mass will be on Dec. 31,08 at 10:00a at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, at 601 E. California Ave., Bakersfield, CA. Immediately following Mass, will be graveside services at Union Cemetery, located at King and Potomac Ave in The Garden of Roses. Pall bearers include; Robert L. Sotello, Lorrie L. Sotello, Kay Morse, Jerome Johnston, Lucas Padilla, Steve Padilla and John Padilla.
