Robert B. Painter (Poppie, Uncle Bob, RB) Bob was born on November 7, 1949 in Bakersfield California to Dorn and Lorene Painter. He attended local schools and graduated from South High School in 1967. Bob married the love of his life, Rosie Martinez, in 1968. They settled in Bakersfield where they started their family in 1969. Bob had always considered his family the most important part of his life. His pride in his children rose to a new level as they married and brought his five treasured grandchildren into his life. Bob enjoyed the outdoors, but none more than when he was with his family, spending their days fishing, hunting, camping and golfing. Family vacations were the highlight of every year, whether visiting the coast, going to Bass Lake or traveling to Texas…..it was all for family. Bob was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 12 for over 43 years as a blade operator and project foreman. He served on the Advisory Board from 1999-2006. Bob was named to the Executive Board from 2006-2008. In 2008, Bob retired from the career he enjoyed with a sense of pride and accomplishment. Bob was a wonderful person. He genuinely cared about people and was interested in each individual he met. He earned the quiet respect of all who knew him. We will miss him more than words could ever convey. He was our patriarch, our friend, our mentor, our husband, our Dad, our Poppie, "Uncle Bob" to many and the anchor of our family. He has made us the people we are and the good people we dare to become. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Rosie Painter, his three children, Eric Painter (Kelly); Matthew Painter (Jennifer) and Kari Pfeiffer (Kyle); his five grandchildren, Ethan and Sydney Painter, Kamryn and Kwinn Pfeiffer, and Keaton Painter. Bob is also survived by his two sisters, Debbie Williams (Dave) and Dodie Willis. Bob was blessed with a large extended family who he loved dearly. In lieu of flowers…..consider being an organ donor. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 25, at 11am at Westside Church of Christ, 7300 Stockdale for Robert B. Painter, age 63, of Bakersfield who passed away May 19, 2013 in Bakersfield. Pastor Ed Willis of the Austin Ridge Bible Church of Austin, Texas will officiate. "Sleep with the Angels"
