Obituary

October 9, 1929---June 14, 2010 On June 14, 2010, Robert M. Osborn passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side. Bob was born in Shafter on October 9, 1929, to Finley and Alice Osborn. Preceeding him in death was his wife of 40 years, Joan Osborn and step-son Wayne Kabrich. Surviving him are his four daughters, Judy Dudley (Paul), Debbie Hart (Mike), Lorrie Mead (Don), Carol Lousche (Jim), and son Rob Osborn. Nine grandchildren surviving "grandpa" include Kari Bass, Jennifer Marden, Sherrie Chambliss, Amy Karren, Jon Holsapple, Richie Kabrich, Lee Kabrich, Joseph Lousche, and Jacob Lousche plus 7 great-grandchildren. Also surviving Bob are his brother Stanley Osborn (Helen) and two sisters, Gerri Nelson (Charlie) and Patti Kearns (Jack). He will also be remembered and missed by cousins, nieces, nephews, and his life-long friends. Bob had a long, successful career with the Kern County Sheriffs Department. He was the Search and Rescue Team Commander for 8 years. His last assignment was the Lerdo Correctional Facility Commander. He retired in 1982 with 30 years of service. Bob's greatest joy was spending time with his family bbq'ing, camping, and fishing. He was an excellent craftsman with cars and woodworking. His cooking included his famous beef jerky. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Kubo and his staff, especially Deanna Salyards for her compassionate care. Also, a big thank you for the hugs and fantastic care of Optimal Hospice. Donations in Bob's name are appreciated to the ALS Foundation or Optimal Hospice. A funeral service will be held on Friday June 18, 2010 at 11am at The Peters Funeral Home in Shafter with interment to follow at Shafter Memorial Park.
