Robert Martin Jones was born on April 8, 1952 in Nashville, Tennessee to Robert D. and Eulida Jones. The family moved to Wasco and Marty graduated from Wasco High School with the Class of 1970. Marty and Lorna (Brown) were married June 19, 1971 and continued to live in Wasco and raise their family. Marty worked in the oil fields over 15 years at Shell Oil Company (Belridge) and for 15 years at Wasco Union Elementary School District as Director of the Maintenance Operations and Transportation for 15 years. He was the Public Works Director for the City of Wasco and the City of Taft before having to retire due to his life saving liver transplant in 2008. Marty's life was extended an extra 5 years. Marty was an active member of Westside Family Fellowship for over 15 years, then he spent the next 10 years at Family Life Worship Center in McFarland where their daughter, Tracy, is the Associate Pastor. Marty loved football and mentored many young men as a youth football coach for over 15 years. Marty put God first, then his wife and family, which he loved. Marty was a faithful husband, loving father, brother, papaw and uncle. Marty is survived by his wife of 42 years Lorna; their daughters, Tracy Jones Espinoza and her husband Robert and their children, Michael, R.J. and Melyssa; Amanda Zepeda and her husband Carlos, and their children, Zack, Mattie, Jonah and Abigail. Marty was preceded in death by his son, Chad and he is survived by Chad's daughters, Hannah and Morgan Jones. He is also survived by sisters, Sheila Borjon and her husband Mark and Susie Carroll and her husband Randall; many nieces, nephews and spiritual sons and daughters. Donations may be made in Marty's name to the Wasco Community Scholarship Association, PO Box 7, Wasco, CA 93280. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 7 at 11am at Westside Family Fellowship for Robert Martin Jones, age 61,of Wasco who passed away February 28, 2014 in Loma Linda. Pastors Terry Ruddell and John Ross will officiate the service. A private graveside will be held at Wasco Memorial Park.
