Robert A. Gobea was born June 26, 1957 in Casa Grande, Arizona one of three sons born to Olivia (Alarcon) and Henry Gobea. The family moved to California, first to Santa Maria then Bakersfield in 1999. Robert married Elpidia Soliz July 19, 1980 in Shafter. In Santa Maria, Robert worked in auto body repairs. His passion was restoring old cars including a candy apple red 1957 Chevy and his pride and joy, 1934 Ford Coupe. Robert was lovingly referred to as stubborn and set in his ways; He also loved to talk to people. Robert is survived by his wife, Pete Elpidia, sons, Robert Gobea, Jr. and Michael Gobea; brothers, Ronnie Gobea (his twin) and Henry Gobea, Jr.; grandsons, Alex Michael Gobea and Abel Gobea; another grandchild due in May; and many loving family including, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents. Holy Rosary will be recited Thursday, November 21 at 6:30pm at Peters Funeral Home, Shafter for Robert A. Gobea, Sr., age 56 of Bakersfield who passed away November 17, 2013 in Bakersfield. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 22 at 10am at St. Therese's Church, Shafter. Fr. David Enriquez will officiate and interment will follow at Shafter Memorial Park.
