Robert Gillespie, a native of Michigan and 40-year resident of California and Yucca Valley, died Dec. 9, 2008, at home. He was 82 years old. The son of John Gillespie and Sarah Knox Gillespie, he was born April 20, 1926. He was an auto maker for Ford Motors before his retirement. Mr. Gillespie belonged to the Elks Lodge and attended First Christian Church of Yucca Valley. He is survived by his wife of 11⁄2 years, Mary Hall Gillespi, of Yucca Valley; stepdaughter Donna Caruso of Hesperia; stepsons Richard and Kenneth Clayton of Henderson; sister Betty Bushey of Michigan; son Robert Gillespie Jr. of Michigan; and stepson Bill Allen of Yucca Valley. A graveside service will be held in Hesperia.
