Robert Earl Smith was born in DeQueen, Arkansas on July 17, 1929 to Joseph and Sarah Smith. Robert had a few occupations as a young man he worked for the Los Angeles Police Department, owned a security guard company and worked as a Fuller Brush Salesman for a few years but his heart was in providing for his family as a Farmer. He married Carol Ann Dry and together they raised their six children. They were residents of Shafter for 27 years and enjoyed their life together. Robert passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side on January 11, 2015. He is survived by his wife of 30 years Carol; sons Ronnie (Valerie) Smith of Los Osos, and Alan Smith of Arizona; daughters Diana (Anthony) Taylor of Long Beach, Angela (Jon) Nelms of Alta Loma; step sons Clint (Kim) Smith of North Carolina and Timothy Smith of Florida; grandchildren Michael, Matthew and Michelle Smith of Los Osos, Sean, Mac, Magen, Amy and Katie Smith of Arizona, Scott and Sheila Nelms of Alta Loma, Michael T. Smith of North Carolina and Samantha Smith of Bakersfield; great grandson Nathaniel Smith of Bakersfield; brother Joe Smith of Shafter; sisters Ruby Hayworth of Shafter and Helen Schmidt of Bakersfield. In accordance with Robert's wishes there were no service held.
