Obituary

Roark Davis Randolph entered eternal life on December 9, 2009. He was born in Bakersfield, California on July 1, 1958. Though his life would seem too short to many, those who were touched by Roark understood that the quality of his existence far exceeded the length of time that he walked among us. Roark loved his family more than anything else. He is survived by the love of his life, Emily, his wife of 27 years. There is no way to measure the countless little things he did every single day to make her feel loved and treasured. Their son Jake was Roark's ultimate pride and joy. Being a dad was the passion of Roark's life and he was an exceptional father. He was a special and uniquely caring uncle to his little "Boo" Gabby. His family includes his siblings Camalyn and Jack Gilbert, Blaine and Teresa Randolph, Garret and Julie Randolph, and Bryn and Brent Milton, numerous in laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is also survived by a lifetime full of good friends. Preceding him in death were his precious baby daughter Macy Grace, his parents Jack and Linda Randolph as well as his beloved Nani, Dorothy Loustalot. Roark graduated from BHS in 1976, where he played football and baseball. He was an avid Driller. He graduated from Bakersfield College, where he also played football and was a proud member of the Renegade football team that won the Junior Rose Bowl championship in 1976. He graduated from California State University, Bakersfield with a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration. Roark was blessed to be employed by The Wine Group. His new career rejuvenated his outlook on life and provided him with an opportunity to thrive and flourish. Previously, he was employed by Bolthouse Farms for 22 years. He especially enjoyed camping with his family and friends in Ensenada. He was Jake's biggest competitor at Wii Sports Resort. He was Gabby's best listener during long talks in the car. He will always be remembered for the quiet smile and gentle nature he shared with everyone he met. Roark was a kind and honest man. His first love was the Lord Jesus, and the spirit of the Lord guided him in everything he did. He deeply loved his church family. He had many friends, and had an extraordinary gift of bonding with each person in a special way. Roark never turned away anyone in need. He was always quick to laugh, love, give and forgive. Roark LOVED sports! He delighted in attending Jake's events as well as those of his friends' children, who he loved as his own. You could always count on Roark being on the sidelines, cheering the kids on. He was truly one-of-a-kind, and a blessing to anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. Although Roark was larger than life, he was a humble man. There is no way to fill the void that he leaves. Beloved Roark: husband, father, son, brother and friend. You left us too soon but we know you are with our Lord. Hold tightly now to Macy Grace, and tell her that we love her. Know too, that we love you, and that you will always be in everything we think, see, hear, touch and feel. You will be in our hearts, until that day when we can all be together again. Services will be held Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 1:00pm at Garden Community Church, 900 22nd Street, Bakersfield, California. Graveside services to follow at Shafter Cemetery at approximately 3:00pm. A reception will immediately follow at Sequoia Elementary School, 500 East Fresno Avenue, Shafter, CA at 3:30pm.
