Obituary

Ricky was born August 13, 1988 in Bakersfield, California, to parents LaQuetta Lynn (Phillips) McDougal and Marcus D. Williams. He went to be with our Lord, February 20 2011. Ricky lived and attended schools in Shafter and Bakersfield, where he graduated from Stockdale High School in 2006. Ricky acquired his passion for music from his brother Jacob. He helped teach Ricky to play the guitar and he became very talented. He was most proud of his Les Paul Epiphone guitar. He aspired to work doing something he thoroughly enjoyed; he followed his passion to Venice Beach, CA. to work under John Caruthers as a custom guitar builder. He returned to Bakersfield and worked at Front Porch Music working restoring and repairing guitars. He took great pride in his craftsmanship as evidenced by his customers and employers alike. Beyond that, Ricky had a very gentle and generous spirit. His brother, Matthew helped instill in him by words and example the virtues of patience. He became especially gifted at working with children. He was always seen at family events with the younger children- keeping them entertained and teaching them basics like tying shoes. He frequently volunteered as a first grade teacher's aide in the Greenfield Union School District. He loved fishing, hunting, shooting and camping trips with his stepfather, Ron and the PG&E gang, earning the nickname "The Rifleman". He enjoyed family trips to Pismo Dunes three wheeling, camping and the family camp fire stories and singing, often playing a guitar serenade. He always cherished time spent with family and loved them all dearly. His sense of humor never failed him and always a smile for everyone. Growing up he was active in the Youth Ministry at the Westside Church of Christ where he was baptized into Christ in 2001 and currently attended. He enjoyed many Bible Camps and events, and volunteered at the Bakersfield Homeless Shelter with his mother. He loved talking about bible scripture with his mother, sometimes bringing friends to join in discussions. In all circumstances, Ricky was always proud of his faith. He truly had a heart for the Lord. His family was very proud of him and loved him dearly. Ricky is preceded in death by his Grandparents, Ruth Imogene Baker (Jean Baker) and Ernie Adren Phillips. His request, he will be laid to rest in Shafter with his grandparents. Loved and forever in our hearts. Mother, LaQuetta Lynn Mcdougal, Stepfather, Ron McDougal, and Father Marcus Williams.
