Richard Phillip Russell Sr., U.S. Marine, 55. A funeral Mass for Richard Phillip Russell Sr. will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Nov. 24 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on the Twentynine Palms Marine base. A graveside service will follow at 1:45 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery's Staging Area No. 4. Mr. Russell died Nov. 17, 2008, in San Diego. The son of William John and Betty Jean Russell, he was born Nov. 1, 1953, in Tucson, Ariz. He was a resident of Twentynine Palms who lived in California for 32 years and in the Morongo Basin for 28 years. Mr. Russell attained the rank of staff sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, in which he served for 20 years before he retired. He was married to Eliza Russell. He is survived by sons Elizar Russell, William Russell and Richard P. Russell Jr., daughters Mia Russell and Tussannee Witmer, sisters Debbie, Jackie, Theresa, Laura, Barbra, Mary, Pam and Cathy, brothers Jimmy, David, Donny, John and Dennis, 10 grandchildren and two more on the way. A visitation service was held 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 21 at Wiefels and Son Funeral Chapel in Yucca Valley.
