Richard Leslie McClain was born February 11, 1939 in Bowie, Arizona to Travis and Virginia (Cullen) McClain. Richard served his country from 1961 to 1963 in the US Army earning the rank of private. He and Claudina Wood were married February 18, 1962 in Las Vegas and they moved to Wasco in 1963. Richard worked as a truck driver for Miller Livestock, Gladden Trucking and J.D. Cullen before an accident left him disabled. Richard enjoyed collecting die cast cars and 18 wheeler trucks. Richard loved spending time with his family and he will be greatly missed by them. Richard is survived by son: Joseph McClain and wife, Tracy of Missouri; daughters, Virginia McClain, Rose Marie McClain, JoAnn McClain and husband, Jimmie Lynch, all of Wasco, Dorothy Reynolds and husband, Darin of Porterville; brothers, Bobby McClain and wife, Barbara of Wasco, Gary McClain and wife, Jackie of Oklahoma, Kenneth McClain and wife, Wanda of Wasco; sister, Ann Scott and husband, Gary of Angel's Camp; 28 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; his best friend, Tommie McDonald; and many other loving family members. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Claudina who passed away in 2003; daughter, Kathleen Potter; son, Richard McClain, and two sisters, Mildred and Shirley. A graveside funeral service was held Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at Wasco Memorial Park at 2pm for Richard Leslie McClain, age 68, of Wasco who passed away December 28, 2007 in Wasco. Pastor Sandra Bulaga-Webb officiated the service and interment followed. Visitation was held at Peters Funeral Home, Tuesday, January 1, from 2pm – 8pm.
