Reynaldo Gomez was born on March 31, 1941, in San Benito, Texas, to Maximino and Tomasa Gomez. He came to Shafter in 1970, and was employed for Belridge Farms and Jackson and Perkins until his health failed. Reynaldo enjoyed gardening growing flowers and vegetables which he shared with his family. He had a bicycle collection of three wheelers and scooters that he enjoyed tinkering on and riding. He also loved animals and dogs and had a bird collection. He loved the outdoors and being out in nature, fishing at Hart Park and going to the mountains. Reynaldo was a jolly man, who was humorous to the end. Reynaldo was preceded in death by his parents, Maximino and Tomasa Gomez. He is survived by his sons, Reynaldo, Jr. and wife, Elizabeth, Edward and wife, Angela Gomez, Francis and husband, Fabian Soto all of Bakersfield, Norma Lisa and husband, Darin Testroete of Fort Bragg; brothers, Baldemar and wife, Socorro Gomez of Shafter, Johnnie and wife, Mary Ann Gomez of Bakersfield; sisters, Oralia Gomez, Mary Gomez, Rosemary Gomez, Gracie Reyna, Tomasa and husband, Juan Jara all of Shafter; 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; and many other loving family members. An evening service was held at Peters Funeral Home on Monday, March 26, 2007, at 6pm for Reynaldo Gomez, Sr., age 65, of Bakersfield, who passed away March 24, 2007, in Bakersfield. A chapel service was held on Tuesday, March 27, 2007, at 10am, at Peters Funeral Home. Pastor Eppie Bernal of La Rosa de Saron officiated the service and interment followed at Shafter Memorial Park.
