Reyna Pena Serna was born January 6, 1926 to Pedro and Placida (Serna) Pena in Agua Legas, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Reyna married Jesús in Mexico in 1943 and they lived in Texas for a a year before settling in Arvin in 1970. Reyna worked for DM Camp and Sons for many years. She liked gardening flowers, cooking, tamales being the family favorite and caring for her grandchildren. Reyna is survived by her sons, Mario Serna and Albert Serna; her daughters, Margarita Serna and Maria T. Perez and husband Ernesto; sister, Josefa Cardenas; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild on the way; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Reyna is preceded in death by her parents Pedro and Placida (Serna) Pena; her son Clemente Serna; and her daughter Maria J. Serna. Arvin Funeral Home will be conducting a funeral service for Reyna Pena Serna will be held on Wednesday, April 9, at 10am at St. Thomas Catholic Church. Father Jorge De La Torre will officiate and interment will follow at South Kern Cemetery District, Arvin. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 8, from 2-8pm with the Recitation of The Holy Rosary at 7pm at Arvin Funeral Home.
