Raymond Wallace Ferrell, Sr. November 1, 1936 – April 9, 2007 Raymond Wallace Ferrell, Sr. was born November 1, 1936 in Bradley County, Arkansas to Beecher & Marjorie (Johnson) Ferrell. He grew up in Arkansas and married Janie Doles and they had 5 children. Raymond moved to Wasco 20 years ago, but continued to call Arkansas home. He worked as a mechanic all his life and retired from Mettler Bros. Automotive Repair. Raymond loved hunting and fishing on the river in his free time, and commonly referred to himself as an Oauchita River Rat. He was never without a friend and everyone who met him loved him. He was the "happiest little Leprechaun you would ever want to meet". Raymond is survived by his children, Raymond Ferrell, Jr. of Oklahoma, Glenda Pitcairn & husband Michael of Shafter, Mona Sturgeon & husband Rick of Madera, Donna Gray of Bakersfield and Teresa Dawson of Wasco; brothers, B.W. Ferrell & wife Gail of Arkansas, Nolen Ferrell & wife Joyce of Arkansas; sisters, Martha Hosey & husband Dale of Arkansas, Charlotte Ann Buras of Louisiana; dear companion, Donna Vaughn; 21 grandchildren, 16 & ½ great grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends. His parents and 2 brothers, Keith and Charles, preceded him in death. A funeral service was held Tuesday, April 17 at 12noon at Peters Funeral Chapel, Wasco. Pastor Dean Long of the Shafter Freewill Baptist Church officiated and interment was at the Palestine Methodist Church Cemetery in Johnsville, Arkansas. Visitation were held on Monday, April 16 2pm to 8pm and Tuesday, April 17 from 9am to service at Peters Funeral Home.
