Randolph Escalante was born September 27, 1950 to Daniel & Julia (Araiza) Escalante in Bakersfield, California. Randy was raised in Shafter and graduated from Shafter High School with the Class of 1968. Randy had an independent nature which after high school led him to start his own business in tractor repair and farming. He also had a great passion for classic cars, trucks and street rods. Randy was always giving – to the community, church, family and friends – anyone who asked. He didn't know a stranger. Randy was known for his great barbecue skills and love of Karaoke. He had a loving giving and jovial nature. A true best friend of everyone he knew. Randy was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Buckley. He is survived by his wife, Paula; parents, Danny and Julia Escalante; daughters, Maria Utt and husband Dennis, Michelle Waters and husband Stephen, Christine Escalante and fiancée Matthew Williamson, Cynthia Fosdick and husband Matthew; grandchildren, Lauren and Tanner Utt, Christie, Shelby and Samantha Harper, Alex Fosdick and Daniel Randolph Fosdick , due in December; brothers, Richard Escalante and wife Becky, Danny Escalante and wife Elaine, Tim Escalante and wife Sherry, Greg Escalante and wife, Julie; sister, Dolores Rangel and husband Ed; and many other loving family members and a host of friends who will miss him dearly. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be recited Friday, August 21, 2009 at 10am at St. Therese's Church of Shafter, followed by Mass of the Christian Burial for Randolph Escalante, age 58, of Shafter who passed away August 19, 2009 in Bakersfield. Msgr. Perry of St. Elizabeth's Church of Bakersfield will officiate the services and interment will follow at Shafter Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday, August 20 from 5pm to 8pm at Peters Funeral Home.
