IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ramona Louise
Martinez
June 17, 1954 – August 16, 2021
Ramona Louise Martinez was born in Los Angeles, California on June 17, 1954 to parents, Victor Martinez and Francisca Flores Martinez. She is the youngest of her parents 7 children, John, Victor, Catalina, Rose, Ramona, Frankie and Ramona L. Most of her family and friends called her "Mona". Mona was baptized and raised Catholic. She grew up on Mariposa Street in Los Angeles. She continued to live on Mariposa Street much of her adult life. After graduating from Los Angeles High School in 1972, Mona went on to Los Angeles Trade Technical School. There she learned secretarial and office management skills. She was an incredibly fast typist, which helped her gain employment at Chubb Insurance. She worked there for several years and made many friends who shared her love for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Mona and a few close friends she made while working at Chubb often went to Dodger games to cheer on her favorite team. Whether watching in person or at a live game, Mona hardly ever missed a Dodger game. She could help "coach" the team with the best of them from the sidelines. Her other passion was for animals, cats in particular. She always had a faithful cat companion or two in her home and fed many more who had no home to call their own. In 2005, she and her sister and brother-in-law, Rose and Jose moved up to Kern County to be closer to their other sister Catalina and the rest of the family. Wasco is the last place Mona called home, until her death on August 16, 2021. Mona is reunited in death with her parents, Victor and Francisca Martinez, brothers, John, Victor and Frankie Martinez, and sister, Ramona Martinez and sister-in-law Carol Martinez. Mona is survived by her sister Catalina Sly, and her sister and brother-in-law Rose and Jose Sepulveda. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will always miss her dearly. Services will be at Peter's Funeral Home in Wasco, CA on Monday, August 30, 2021. Her viewing will be held from 9am-11am. The Celebration of Life Service will begin at 11am, followed by a brief graveside service. Family and friends are asked to join us after the graveside services for a catered lunch back at Peter's Funeral Home.
