Ping Jum Dang was born December 15, 1944 to parents Dang King Lung and Seto Yuet To, in Gwong Dung Hi Ping Ping On Lei, Canton, China. In January of 1965 he married the love of his life, Situ Mei Xiu, and the couple was blessed with 3 children. Ping brought the family to the U.S. in 1981 and settled in Bakersfield. As an immigrant family living within a small community of Chinese in the area, there was little choice for Ping, he would work hard and provide the best life possible for those he loved. He worked as a cook for Bill Lee's and Rice Bowl restaurants in Bakersfield; in 1989 he bought his own restaurant in Shafter and his family continues to operate China Cuisine. Ping enjoyed spending time gardening, listening to Chinese classical opera and spending time with family on the weekends, usually preparing food for his family. Ping is survived by his wife, Mei Xiu; his children, Scott Dang and wife Joy, Susan and husband Dillon Lim, and Jennifer Malone; grandchildren, Jeffrey Dang, Stephany Dang, Kaitlyn Lim, Jarrett Lim and Giovanni Malone.
