"Phyllis'" Nunez passed quietly accompanied by her children on July 15, 2021 at Carrington Assisted Living in Shafter, California. She was 90 years of age. Phyllis was born in Shafter, California on November 1, 1930 to Fructuoso Palomo and Carmen Castro. Phyllis was raised in Shafter where she attended local schools. After graduating from Shafter High School she met and married her late husband, Filomeno "Phil" Nunez. Phyllis was employed as a part time teachers aide at Richland Elementary and then for Dole Fruits until her retirement. Phyllis was a resident of Shafter until 1996, before moving to Idaho. She returned to Kern County in 2016. Phyllis was a woman of faith who was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Phyllis was happiest when spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Phyllis will be remembered for putting others before herself and her willingness to pray for everyone. She was blessed to have lived such a long life. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Phil, and her siblings, John Palomo, Joe Palomo, Sarah Carrasco, and Freddie Palomo. She is survived by her siblings, Ofelia Martinez, Salvador Palomo, Arturo Palomo, Carmen Beadle, and Irene Borjon; children, Abel (Judith) Nunez, Victor (Yolanda) Nunez, Michael (Selsa) Nunez, Diane (Tony) Hernandez, and Robert (Lisa) Nunez. She was a grandmother to 18, and a great grandmother to 23. A rosary will be held Thursday, July 29 2021 at 6:30 at Peters Funeral Home in Shafter. Mass Service on Friday July 30 at 12:00 pm at St. Ann Seton in Bakersfield. Gravesite services at Hillcrest Memorial at 2:00 pm.
