Petra Flores Hinojosa was born August 1, 1944 in Mexico to Francisca and Pedro Flores. She married Jesus Hinojosa on January 1, 1963 and they moved to Wasco in 1964. Petra worked in agriculture during the harvest seasons at various packing sheds in the area for over 20 years; many of those years at the Belridge Garlic Company. She enjoyed knitting and her projects included doilies and other home decorating items. She also enjoyed cooking for her family, her tamales being the family favorite. Petra and Jesus loved going to the casinos at Eagle Mountain and Lemoore. Jesus, her beloved husband of 49 years, preceded her in death on February 7, 2012. Petra was also preceded in death by her father Pedro. Petra is survived by her mother, Francisca Flores of Shafter; sons, Jessie Hinojosa, Jr. and wife Sandra of Bakersfield, Juan Hinojosa and wife Charlene of Wasco; daughters, Mary Nunez and husband Abel, Maricela Sanchez and husband Ralph of Wasco; 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Holy Rosary will be recited Wednesday, September 4 at 6:30pm at St. John's Church for Petra Flores Hinojosa, age 69, of Wasco who passed away September 2, 2013 in Bakersfield. Mass of the Christian Burial will be recited Thursday, September 5, at 10am at St. John's Church. Fr. John Fluetsch will officiate and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 4 from 2pm to 6pm at Peters Funeral Home, Wasco.
