Petra was born in San Benito, Texas on January 18, 1928 to parents Merced Espinoza and Gurmecinda (Perez) Espinoza. She met the love of her life, Carlos Alaniz in 1951. Shortly after, he enlisted in the Army. Upon his return, they got married and raised their two children in Wasco. Petra valued the time she spent in her garden tending to her plants and reminiscing about her days as a youth. She collected figurines for many years. She had stories for each figurine and never missed the opportunity to share them with anyone. Petra is survived by her husband of 61 years, Carlos Alaniz; son, Alex Alaniz and wife Letty; daughter, Margie Alaniz; six grandchildren and 5 great- grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Merced and Gurmecinda Espinoza; brother, Francisco Espinoza; sister, Dominga Aguirre.
