"Perry Tiner, age 84, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 17, 2024 in his home in Bakersfield, California, surrounded by loved ones. Perry was born on October 28th, 1940 in Stonewall, Oklahoma to Houston and Hattie Tiner. Perry grew up primarily in Wasco, California where he resided until 1998. He graduated from Wasco High School in 1958.
Perry married the love of his life, Loretta Tiner on August 18, 1959 in Wasco. Perry worked as Head of Maintenance and Transportation of the Belridge Elementary School and maintained a perfect driving record as a seasoned school bus driver for 35 years. Perry had a great sense of humor and loved to spend time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers and sisters and all of his family. He attended the Missionary Baptist Church in Shafter for 15 years and later after moving to Bakersfield, Perry and his wife Loretta attended Valley Baptist Church. Perry loved visiting the beach in Morro Bay where he and his wife owned a vacation home for many years. Perry loved Yosemite National Park - He spent many summers with his wife, children, grandchildren, Earl and Pat and their children David, Steve and Tim. Perry loved gardening and working outdoors, he also spent time on the beaches of Maui and traveled to Texas to visit his brother George and sister-in-law Phylis.
Perry is survived by his wife Loretta of 65 years, grandson Phillip LeVasseur and fiance Lindsay Burch and their daughter Isabella, his granddaughter Leslie Penner and her husband Jarrod Penner, as well as two great grandsons, Luke and Graham Penner. Other relatives include his brother George Tiner and many nieces and nephews. Perry was preceded in death by his son Phillip Tiner and his daughter Saundra Joiner.
Our family would like to extend a special thanks to the management and staff of Hoffmann Hospice. Your care and compassion will never be forgotten.
Services will be held Friday, November 22, 10:00am, at Wasco Cemetery, 300 Leonard Ave. Wasco. A viewing will take place for friends and family on Thursday, November 21st from 2:30-6:30 pm at Peter's Funeral Home, 1401 7th St. Wasco.
All donations to the Alzheimer's Disease Association of Kern County are sincerely appreciated."
