Paul Gomez Salazar was born in Phoenix, Arizona to Catarino and Otilia Salazar on April 30, 1956. The family moved to Earlimart in the early "60's and Paul attended the local Earlimart schools and graduated from Delano High School. Paul was very mechanically inclined, and could repair anything that needed fixing. He loved to ride his Harley and was a jokester by nature. Paul's special talent was giving everyone he came in contact with a nickname. Paul also loved his grandchildren dearly. Paul was preceded in death by his father, Catarino; and brothers, Carlos and Jesus. He is survived by his mother, Otilia; son, Paul Jr.; daughters, Clara and husband, Martin Mendoza; Vanessa and Jessica; and their mother, Abigail; grandchildren, Desiree, Josephina, Alexis, Ezekiel, Natalie, Xavier and Bianca; siblings, Elenor, Augustina, John, Mary, Paul, Catarino, Jr., Lupe, Emmet, Virginia, Stella, Debra, Carlos, Ofelia, Esther, and Susanna. A funeral service was held at Peters Funeral Home- Shafter on Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at 1pm, for Paul Gomez Salazar, age 51, of Earlimart, who passed away February 7, 2008, in Delano. Pastor Philip Cramer of New Hope Free Will Baptist Church of Lamont officiated at the service and interment followed at North Kern Cemetery, Delano.
