Obituary

Patricia entered the world in 1932 and grew up in Fresno, California, under the care of her parents John and Constance (Connie) Blackburn. As the firstborn of three siblings, alongside sister Camille and brother John, she displayed an energetic spirit early on. After completing high school (Roosevelt High School, Class of 1950) at age 18 she began her career at Pacific Bell telephone company, where she broke barriers by becoming one of its youngest female leaders. She later wed Henry J (Tony) Visser and made their home in Wasco, California, where they managed farms growing row crops and almonds until Tony's death in 2003.

While she shared her immense love with everyone, her deepest devotion belonged to Jesus and her family. She served as teaching director at Community Bible Study for 5 years, where she taught scripture to hundreds of women weekly, becoming both friend and guide to many. Until her final days, she maintained her passion for discussing her relationship with Jesus. Though her faith was evident, she shared it openly while respecting others' beliefs. Her connection to the home she shared with Tony kept her grounded for more than 20 years after his passing. For her, devotion was demonstrated through actions and words!

Mom, Mommy, Nammy, Grandee, Nana Pat, you provided stability and strength in challenging times. Your departure leaves an unmistakable gap, particularly knowing your constant prayers will no longer guide us. This truth weighs heavily on all and brings anxiety to some. We trust that your final prayers for God's protection and support will continue to bless our future journeys. You've shown us how to pray without reservation – we aspire to match even a small portion of your prayer dedication.

Patricia leaves behind children Connie Cooper-Edwards and husband Larry, Brad Cooper and wife Stephanie, Ted Visser and wife Patty, Karen Visser-Gonzales and husband Richard, Becky Visser, Henry J. Visser Jr. and wife Libby & Jon Visser and wife Andrea. Grandchildren, Genna Ferree, Kristin, Amanda, Cameron Visser and Misty Walker, Russell and Harold Stowers & Kayla, Lilly and Hannah Visser. Brother John Blackburn and wife Joanna.

The Celebration of Life service will be held at 11am on Friday, May 9th, 2025 at Valley Bible Fellowship Northwest, 6228 Coffee Rd, Bakersfield, CA 93308. (Note signage says Harvest Christian Church)
