Pantaleon Vasquez was born November 29, 1917 in San Luis, Potosi, Mexico to parents Pedro and Jesus (Becerra) Vasquez. He married Maria Antonia Vasquez in 1945. Pantaleon was a hard working man, who worked in the agriculture industry for various farmers around the area. He had a bit of a green thumb and loved to spend time in his garden; he grew sugar cane, tomatoes, chilies and okra, among other things. Pantaleon loved to buy his scratchers or just sit around telling stories, but he was happiest when he could have his family over to his house. He was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather, and the family will always remember his favorite question, greeting and saying, "Why why?" Pantaleon was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Antonia Vasquez; his son, George Vasquez; his grandson, Robert Marines; his great granddaughter, Destiny Lopez; and his sons-in-law, Paul Loza and Henry Cortinez. He is survived by his children, Arcadia and husband Jorge Bustos, Josefina Loza, Candy and husband Jimmy Morales, Rosa and husband Don Bronkema, Ofelia and husband Juventino Cervantes Sr., Ermelinda Cortinas, Mary Vasquez, Louis Vasquez, Gabriel Vasquez, David Vasquez and wife Cathy, Chris Vasquez and wife Monica; a daughter-in-law, Terri Vasquez; 48 grandchildren; 83 great grandchildren; and 18 great great grandchildren. A Visitation will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Thursday, June7, from 2-8pm with recitation of the Holy Rosary at 6:30pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John's Catholic Church on Friday, June 8, beginning at 10am. Father John Fluetsch will officiate the services and interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park.
