OTHEL LEE PEARSON, SR. Othel was born on May 23, 1924, to Arra Abbie Bean and Arlis Alonzo Pearson, in Stigler, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Laura, his son, Larry and his grandson, Richard Jacobsen. His brothers, Willard, Ray and Arthur also preceded him. His survivors include, his children, Othel, Jr of Montana, Helen Souza, Tulare; Phyllis Tiner, Bakersfield and Laurie Rodriguez, Wasco. He has two surviving brothers, Jim of Atwater and Earl of Bakersfield. He also leaves to mourn him16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Othel worked for 34 years for Kern County Equpment in Buttonwillow. He was an accomplished diesel mechanic and made many lifelong friends in the Buttonwillow farming community. He loved the Greenhorn Mountains above Bakersfield. He hunted and fished in the Alder Creek area. He a taught his children and grandchildren the beauty of camping, hunting, fishing and just tooling around in his old jeep. For many years he and his wife, Laura, enjoyed fishing in San Antonio Lake. His family was also blessed to be the recipients of his many stories. All based on truth but frequently stretched for entertainment value. After his beloved wife's passing in 2010, it became obvious to his family that he was in the beginning stages of Alzheimers. The family was so fortunate to find a wonderful facility in Tulare--Merritt Manor. The staff treated him with kindness and patience for four years and were extremely helpful to the family the last five days of his life. Daddy became a valued member of their community. We ask that anyone wanting to donate to do so to any Alzheimers charity in his honor. A funeral service will be held Thursday, November 12, 2015 at noon. at Peters Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Wasco Memorial Park. Visitation will be the day before on Wednesday November 11 from 4 to 8 p.m.
