Obituary

Oscar Salinas was born in Denver, Colorado, on July 12, 1980, to Adolfo and Dora Ortiz. He came to Shafter in 1987, and attended the local schools. Oscar was always a very hard working person; he loved working in the fields and making friends. He was a quiet man who enjoyed music, cars, and driving. If anyone had a trip to go on he always volunteered to drive, whether it was a short drive or a long drive to LA or Vegas. At the time of his death Oscar had been living in Yakima, Washington. Oscar is survived by his parents, Adolfo and Dora Ortiz; brothers, Ramon, Carlos, and Christ Angel Raya all of Shafter; grandmother, Eustella Salinas of Mexico; son, Oscar Manuel Salinas, III, and his mother, Denise Garcia of Lamont; and many close friends from the Mexican Colony. A graveside funeral service under the direction of Peters Funeral Home was held at Shafter Memorial Park on Thursday, May 17, 2007, at 10am, for Oscar Salinas, age 26, of Yakima, Washington. Pastor Robert de Jesus Guzman of the Iglesia Resturacion y Esperanza of Wasco officiated at the service. A visitation was held at Peters Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 16, 2007, from 2pm to 8pm.
