Oscar J. Linscott, a resident of Morro Bay, California passed away peacefully at home from complications of cancer, on Wednesday April 14th. Oscar was born, raised and worked his early life in Taft, California. He graduated from Taft High School and completed his education with a degree in Business from Fresno State College. Oscar joined the Army Air Corps prior to the beginning of World War II as an Officer Cadet. He then entered Bombardier training and served in the India-Burma-China Theater during WWII where he rose to the rank of Major. After the cessation of WWII, Oscar returned to Taft and began long and independent career in the oil business. His involvement started with the resale of used equipment and successfully ended in the oil and gas land leasing business, where he achieved production in both the Kern County and northern Sacramento Valley areas. Oscar was a long time resident of Bakersfield, California before his retirement to Morro Bay. Oscar is survived by his wife of 68 years, Catherine; son, Dennis of Reno, Nevada; son Timothy and wife Shirley of Portland, Texas; daughter Barbara and husband Jim Crettol of Shafter, California; as well as four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Services including a funeral mass will be held on Friday, April 23, 2010 at 10 o'clock at St. John's Catholic Church in Wasco, followed by interment in Wasco Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice Partners of the Central Coast.
