Orville Tracy
Porter Sr.
March 20, 1934 – January 18, 2008
Orville Porter Sr. was born March 20, 1934 to Thomas and Dicia (Riley) Porter in Bakersfield. He attended local schools and graduated from East High. After High School, Orville served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Upon returning home to Bakersfield he married Julia Cain in March of 1961, and the two started their family. Orville worked in the oil business for nearly 40 years, employed by OFC and ARB. He was also a member of the local 1234 laborer's union. Orville was a quiet man who enjoyed the outdoors; some of his favorite hobbies were golfing, hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed watching many sports on TV and spent much of his time reading. Orville also loved playing and just spending time with his grandkids. Orville was preceded in death by his parents and 2 of his siblings. He is survived by his former wife Julia Cain; his son Tracy Porter and his wife Glenda Sue; his daughters, Elizabeth and her husband Gary Jordan, and Katherine Cooper; a brother Richard Porter and his wife Donna; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 nephews and 1 niece. A viewing will be held at Hopson-Anspach Mortuary on Tuesday, January 22, from 2-8pm. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 23, at 11am at Union Cemetery.
