'Lon' Janzen
August 1, 1932 – July 26, 2012
Orlando (Lon) Janzen was born to Hank and Elizabeth Janzen on August 1, 1932, in Clyde, North Dakota. He was the 3rd child in a family of 6 children and grew up working on the family farm. He was educated in Munich, North Dakota and attended college at Grace Bible Institute in Omaha, Nebraska. While at Grace, he met Mamie Wedel. They were married on August 14, 1954, in Ringwood, Oklahoma and made their home in Enid, Oklahoma, where they raised 3 children, Randy, LaVonne and Brenda. Lon was a gifted piano tuner for over 40 years and enjoyed farming for many years. As a young teen, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord and enjoyed serving in his church as a Sunday school teacher, choir director and singing in a men's quartet. In 2010, Lon and Mame moved to Reedley, CA. Lon was a resident of Palm Village Retirement Community when he passed from this life on July 26, 2012. He was a faithful husband and father and will be forever loved by his family. Lon was preceded in death by his parents, Hank and Elizabeth Janzen, a brother, Arnold Janzen, and a sister, Alice Dick. He is survived by his wife of over 57 years, Mame Janzen; 3 children, Randy Janzen and wife Sharon of Visalia, CA, LaVonne Unruh and husband Tim of Shafter, CA, and Brenda Luskey and husband Michael of Enid, OK; 7 grandchildren, Dustin Janzen and wife Rachel, Annie Janzen, Renee Janzen, Stephanie McCaslin and husband, Dustin, Travis Unruh, Sean Luskey, and Andrew Luskey; 1 great grandchild, Faith McCaslin; 1 brother, Orval Janzen, and 2 sisters, Leona Heppner and Betty Unruh. Interment is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., on August 11, 2012, at the Shafter Memorial Park with a memorial service to follow, at 11:00, at the Shafter Mennonite Brethren Church.
