Lilley
November 14, 1923 – January 8, 2009
The daughter of Robert and Lilly (Blodgett) Zepernick, Opal Lilley was born in Ohio on November 14th 1923. At a very young age Opal would be found singing, as she loved music. Her favorites were Gospel, Country, and Blue Grass music. During this time Opal learned to play the Guitar, Mandolin, Do brow, Piano, and other instruments, some were homemade. Opal was a great cook and in her early years, she managed 22 Drive Inn in Lancaster, Ohio where many customers and friends enjoyed her meals. Later in life she moved to Garden Grove California where she worked at "Glass Containers", a company in Los Angeles and attended an Assembly of God church in Garden Grove. She loved the Lord. Opal later moved to Yucca Valley where she bought a home. Her love for helping people led her to a career as a "Licensed Vocational Nurse." She worked at Desert Hospital in Palm Springs and eventually worked as a "Home Health Nurse" traveling to other homes to help ill people. When she retired, she and her husband bought a motor home and traveled though out the United States to visit friends, family, and to attend Blue Grass festivals. Opal was a member of the following clubs: VFW, Loyal Order of the Moose, and Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Opal is survived by her husband of thirty-two years, Jack Lilley of Yucca Valley. Sons and daughters: Sharon Cress of Palm Springs, Ron Holt of Orange, Dave Holt of Ohio, Tim Holt of Hesperia, and Tom Holt of San Jose and sister Joyce Garvey of Florida. She was preceded in death by sons: George Holt Jr., Steve Holt, Sisters: Wanda, Betty, Ethelyn, Lillian, Brothers: Bob, Cecil, Elmer, Emerson, and Arnold. Funeral services will be held at Wiefels Funeral Services located at 57285 Yucca Trail in Yucca Valley, Ca. on Saturday 1/17/09 at 1:00pm An internment will be held at Joshua Tree Memorial Park following the funeral. There will also be a luncheon held at the VFW in Joshua Tree at 2:30pm. It is located 6402 Veterans Way. Their phone number is: (760) 366-2717. In Lieu of flowers, Mrs. Lilley's family requests memorial donations be made to Wiefels Funeral Services in Yucca Valley in care of Opal Lilley's family.
