Obituary

Odie Lee Miller was born May 20, 1931 in Hot Springs, Arkansas to Georgia (Stanfield) and Jessie Dee Miller, one of 5 children. Odie served during Korean Conflict in the US Navy and after being honorably discharged moved to Bakersfield. Odie met Patricia Ann Price and they married June 9, 1956. Odie worked in law enforcement for Shafter Police Department and later for the Kern County Sherriff's Department. After retirement from law enforcement he began his career in real estate and insurance sales. Odie was an avid hunter and fisherman, Stony Creek and was his favorite yearly trip. He was a godly man who loved who loved his country He accepted Christ as his savior in the early 1960's. He loved people and always had a smile on his face. He is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years, Patricia Miller; son, Max Miller and wife Colleen; daughters, Lindy and husband Eric Almberg, Pam and husband Marty Allen; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Henry Miller and Charles Miller. He was preceded in death by sister, Ann Easton and brother, Wesley Miller. A graveside service will be held Monday, May 3 at 10:15am at the Bakersfield National Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 11:30am at Christ Church of the Valley, 3701 Stockdale Hwy, Bakersfield, reception following. Pastor Michael Foutz will officiate the services. Peters Funeral Home, Shafter is in charge of arrangements.
