Norman Lewis Nikkel left his earthly family and went to be with his Heavenly Father and wife Arlene on Saturday April 29, 2017. Norman was a devoted husband to Arlene Kliewer Nikkel for 60 years. He was also an amazing father, loving gpa, and great friend and listener to many. He was born in Bakersfield, CA on December 12, 1931. He graduated from Bakersfield High School and he continued on to study at Pacific Bible Institute in Fresno. Norman farmed, baled hay, sold insurance and was a financial advisor. He served on the Rio Bravo Greeley School District school board and was actively involved in the Rosedale Bible Church for many years. Norman loved to fish, ski, snowmobile, but most of all he loved to spend time with his family. Norman is survived by his three children, son Cary and wife Roxanne Nikkel, daughters Connie and husband Daryl Thiesen, Colleen and husband Jim Kiger and ten grandchildren, Jamie (husband Clay), Nicole (husband Rome), Brittany, Hillary, Haley, Michelle, Michael (wife Kimberly), Tyler, Nathaniel and Matthew. A Graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 8 at Shafter Cemetery and a Memorial Service will follow at 12 p.m. at Rosedale Bible Church. The family wishes to thank the staff and residents at Brookside Senior Apartments for their caring support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fresno Pacific University for the Rosedale Bible Church Endowed Scholarship.
