Sunday morning, May 9, 2010 the Martinez family lost their beloved, son, brother, uncle; Norman Ray Martinez, age 47. Born August 30, 1962, to Angelina (Zaragoza) and Fidel G. Martinez, loving parents of four children. After attending Garces High school and graduating from Bakersfield High school in 1980, he attended Cal State for a couple of years then joined his father in real estate investing. Norman was an avid gun enthusiast, with a true talent in art; abstract oil painting with a few self-portraits, acquired an interest in welding which led into the creation of metal furniture, scale modeling and sculptured plaster figurines. Norman lived life on his own terms with a great sense of humor, a zest for life itself as everyday counted for him, he touched the lives of many in his hometown of Bakersfield. He is preceded in death by his beloved mother Angelina Martinez (1983); brother, John Martinez (1967). He is survived by his caring father Fidel G. Martinez, brothers, Fidel with wife Karen Martinez, Brian Martinez; sister Loretta with husband Jose Navarro; nieces and nephews, Marie Davis, Roxanne, Anthony, Kathleen and Yvonne Martinez, Kimberly and Tammy Navarro, extended family members and numerous friends and acquaintances. Father Ralph Belluomini of St. Francis will officiate 10 am Mass Wednesday, May 12, 2010. The family will have visitation Tuesday, May 11th from 2 to 8pm at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary's Chapel with Recitation of the Holy Rosary commencing at 6:00 pm.
