Obituary

Norma Lee Litke was born to Pete F. and Katherine Brandt on September 17, 1937 in Reedley, California. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 4, 2013 at the age of 75. She attended Windsor Grammar School and Immanuel High School. She also attended one year at Pacific Bible Institute in Fresno. Norma accepted Jesus as Savior as a youth, was baptized and became a member of the Dinuba Mennonite Brethren Church. She made her home in Dinuba until 1969 when she moved to Shafter, California. She invested her time raising her children and working as a bookkeeper in the family custom harvesting business. She attended South Shafter Mennonite Brethren Church where she enjoyed working with the high school youth group by traveling as a sponsor on trips and helping with bake sale fundraisers. She also regularly helped with Vacation Bible School and the food committee. Her family was very important to her. She also loved animals and enjoyed sewing, music and cooking. Many, especially her family, enjoyed her zwieback, pies, home canned goods and many other German Mennonite specialties. In her later years, she worked as a retail clerk in Shafter at Stringham's Drug Store and then Rite Aid. She loved getting to know her customers and helping them however she could. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Eldora. Norma is survived by her daughter Nadine Sperling and husband, Dale; daughter Sandra Litke; daughter Beverly Garcia and husband Jay; grandchildren Nathan Sperling, Sarah Sperling, and Madison Garcia; sister, Lorraine Brandt.
