Nicolaza Torres Vazquez was born April 22, 1925 to Pastor and Maria (Torres) Vazquez in Shafter California. She worked as a farm laborer her entire life. Nicolaza was a very religious woman, and prayed constantly. She was an avid reader, and especially enjoyed reading about historical periods; her favorite topic to read about was English Monarch history. Nicolaza is preceded in death by her parents, Pastor and Maria Vazquez; brothers, Antonio, David John, Armando, Angelo and Pastor Vazquez; sisters, Esther Carrillo, Delfina and Adriana Vazquez. She is survived by her sisters Mary Lou and Helen Vazquez; and numerous nieces and nephews. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at Peters Funeral Home on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at 6:00pm for Nicolaza Torres Vazquez 85, of Shafter who passed away December 14, 2010 in Bakersfield. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, December 20, 2010 at 10:00am at St. Therese's Catholic Church, Father Pedro Umana will officiate and interment will follow at Shafter Memorial Park.
