Nicolas Martinez was born in Durango Mexico on August 23, 1923; he came to the city of Bakersfield California in 1960. Nicolas was a dedicated man, he worked many years for Guimarra Farms. He enjoyed opening his home to company and friends. He had a great sense of humor and people always enjoyed spending time with him. Nicolas took pride in his garden especially with his roses. Nicolas is survived by his brothers, Jesus and Jose Martinez; his sisters, Magdalena Soto and Gloria Ochoa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jose Alfredo and Filomena Martinez; his brothers, Zenon and Manuel Martinez; and his sister Amelia Gomez. A Visitation was held at Hopson-Anspach Mortuary on Monday May 28, from 2-9pm with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Tuesday May 29 at 10:30am and interment followed at Union Cemetery.
